Don Baylor launched 2 homeruns as the California Cubs defeated the Houston
White Sox 17 to 12 at Wrigley Field.

Baylor enjoyed a great day at the plate. Every time he came up in the latter
innings, the crowd was on their feet cheering. He lost the ball over the
fence for three runs in the 3rd inning, launched a rocket-shot out of the
park for a Grand Slam homerun in the 4th inning and doubled resulting in a
run in the 7th inning. California provided plenty of action in the 4th
inning which saw them plate 8 runs on 6 hits. The game was a wild affair
with the lead changing hands 5 times.

The victory went to Paul Hartzell(1-0) who went 5 innings, allowing 6 runs.
Joaquin Andujar(0-1) ended up with the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 8
hits and 2 walks in 3 and 1/3 innings.
