Nolan Ryan carried a no-hitter into the 7th inning as the California Cubs
topped the Baltimore Pirates in 12 innings by a score of 5 to 4 at Wrigley
Field.

Both teams had scored 4 runs after nine full innings. California ended up
winning it in the 12th inning. After an out was recorded, Jerry Remy
doubled. After another out, Bobby Bonds stepped up to the plate and he was
walked intentionally. Dennis Martinez then was wild with a pitch making
California the victors to the delight of the home town faithful. Neither
team was able to score until the 7th inning.

The winning pitcher was Paul Reuschel(1-0) who allowed 1 run in 4 innings.
The right-handed Ryan lost a no-hitter when Bill Robinson singled with one
out in the 7th inning. Martinez(1-1) was given the loss in relief.
