First baseman Tony Perez smashed 2 homeruns and Dennis Leonard was able to
finish what he started and was credited with a complete game as the Kansas
City Expos defeated the Philadelphia Indians by the score of 7 to 2 at
Olympic Stadium.
 
Perez enjoyed a great evening at the plate.  He hit a 'grand salami' to the
delight of his teammates in the 4th inning and smashed a two-run homer in the
5th inning.  Kansas City won despite being out-hit by Philadelphia 8 hits to
5.  
 
The victory went to Leonard(1-0) who went the distance allowing 2 runs. The
losing pitcher was Don Hood(0-1).  He was knocked around, surrendering 6 runs
in 4 and 2/3 innings.
