Shortstop Garry Templeton had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the St. Louis Twins
topped the Boston Mets by a score of 6 to 2 at Busch Stadium.
 
St. Louis came up with 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning when they came
up with 5 base hits.  The key offensive moment was provided by Ted Simmons
who elicited a roar from the hometown fans when he doubled scoring two
baserunners.  St. Louis rapped out 10 hits for the afternoon.  
 
The winning pitcher was Clay Carroll(1-0) who allowed 1 run in 2 and 1/3
innings. Fergie Jenkins(0-2) absorbed the loss.  He pitched 5 and 1/3 innings
giving up 6 hits and no walks.
