The Kansas City Expos came roaring back in the top of the ninth to spoil the
anticipated celebration of the hometown fans.  The final score,, was 6 to
5.
 
Kansas City scored the winning runs in the 9th inning with 3 runs using 3
hits.  Dave Cash kicked off the action when he laced a base-knock.  Andre
Dawson followed next and he drew a walk.  Warren Cromartie then doubled.  Two
outs later Al Cowens came to bat and was walked intentionally.  Del Unser
stepped into the box and ripped a one-base hit.  Both teams ended up with 9
hits on the night.  
 
The win was credited to Will McEnaney(1-0) who went 2 innings allowing no
runs. Bill Atkinson recorded the save, his 2nd.  Dave Campbell(0-1) ended up
with the loss in relief.  
 
'We just kept swinging the bats and didn't give up,' Gary Carter said. 'If you
just keep trying good things can happen!'
