The Philadelphia Indians nipped the San Francisco Yankees 3 to 2 at Cleveland
Stadium in a hard fought contest.
 
Dennis Eckersley(1-1) pitched a solid game.  He went 8 innings and surrended
up 6 hits and 2 walks reducing his ERA from 2.57 to 2.05.  Gene Garber was
perfect in relief and got the save, his 3rd.  
 
Dick Tidrow(0-1) was hit with the loss in relief.  He surrendered 1 hit and 1
walk in 1 inning.
