7,425 fans watched an exciting game at Oakland Coliseum.  The Boston Mets
topped the Atlanta Athletics by the slimmest of margins, 5 to 4.
 
Boston took the lead for keeps in the 7th inning plating an isolated run.
Boston ended up with 10 hits for the game while Atlanta had 7.  
 
The victory was credited to Jerry Koosman(3-1) who went 6 innings, allowing 3
runs. Skip Lockwood preserved the game for Koosman, recording his his 3rd.
Phil Niekro(0-3) was the loser.  
 
The Boston ballclub's record now stands at 7-7.  With this loss, Atlanta has a
4-6 record of late, 5-9 overall.
