Dock Ellis went the distance at Three Rivers Stadium as the Baltimore Pirates
beat the Atlanta Athletics 9 to 5.

Baltimore brought 3 runs across the plate in the bottom of the 2nd inning.
Milt May led off and started the attack as he lashed a single. After an out
was recorded, Ellis came up and he reached on an error. Cesar Geronimo then
hit a sacrifice fly. Rennie Stennett followed next and he hit a single.
Stennett was running on the next pitch and he stole second. Baltimore
continued their aggressive style with another stolen base. Offensively,
Baltimore was a juggernaut. They scored in 6 separate innings.

Ellis(2-1) got the victory, allowing 5 runs for the game. Dick Ruthven(1-2)
was given the loss. He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 8 hits
and 4 walks in 4 innings.
