John Candelaria dominated striking out 11 San Francisco batters at Yankee
Stadium where the Baltimore Pirates beat the San Francisco Yankees by the
score of 7 to 0.

Candelaria(2-2) was on top of his game. He allowed only 4 hits and 3 walks in
9 innings lowering his ERA from 5.50 to 3.67. Baltimore managed 13 hits in
their victory.

Don Gullett(0-2) absorbed the loss. Despite the loss, he struckout 9
Baltimore batters in 6 innings. Candelaria didn't realize how many
strikeouts he was racking up. When told he had 11 he was obviously
surprised, 'No kidding? Man, I knew that I had a decent total, but I didn't
think I had K'd that many. Say, that's pretty good, isn't it?'
