Willie McCovey cracked a homer and had 3 RBI as the San Francisco Yankees
outscored the Baltimore Pirates 6 to 3.
 
San Francisco started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half
of the first when they scored 3 runs on 4 hits.  The crucial at-bat was
provided by McCovey who electrified Yankee Stadium when he smacked a
three-run homer.  San Francisco ended up with 11 hits for the game while
Baltimore had 5.  
 
Ron Guidry(1-2) went 8 innings allowing 2 runs for the win. Dock Ellis(2-2)
was charged with the loss.  He got hit hard, allowing 10 hits and 2 walks in
4 innings.
