In a good matchup it was the San Francisco Yankees 8, the Baltimore Pirates 5
at Yankee Stadium.
 
San Francisco had the winning rally in the bottom of the 8th inning when they
came up with 5 runs on 5 hits.  The big moment was provided by Willie
Randolph who brought the crowd to their feet when he tripled plating two
runs.  San Francisco had 10 hits for the afternoon.  
 
Sparky Lyle(2-0) went 2/3 of an inning allowing 1 run for the win. Dick Tidrow
gained credit for his 1st save.  Rich Gossage(0-1) was tagged with the loss
in relief.  He gave up 5 hits and 2 walks in 1 inning.
