Jim Rice had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Boston Mets defeated the Kansas City
Expos by a score of 8 to 5 at Olympic Stadium.
 
Boston jumped on top to stay in the top of the 2nd inning plating 2 runs.
After an out was recorded, Butch Hobson was the sparkplug when he was hit by
a pitch.  One out later, Rick Burleson stepped up to the plate and he was
walked intentionally.  Doug Flynn then stroked a single.  Fergie Jenkins
followed next and he reached on an error.  Carlton Fisk stepped into the box
and was walked intentionally to load the bases.  Boston managed 12 hits in
their victory.  
 
Jenkins(2-2) went 7 and 1/3 innings allowing 5 runs for the victory. Skip
Lockwood preserved the game for Jenkins, recording his his 4th.  Steve
Rogers(2-2) took the loss.  He was unable to control the Boston offense and
allowed 12 hits and 2 walks in 7 innings.
