Larry Biittner had 2 base hits at Wrigley Field as the California Cubs beat
the Houston White Sox in 11 innings by the count of 3 to 2.

The game was deadlocked at 2 after nine full innings. California won the hard
fought contest in the 11th inning. After an out was recorded, Bobby Bonds
drew a walk. Don Baylor stepped into the batter's box and he ripped a
base-hit. Joe Sambito then threw one that got by the catcher for a passed
ball. Biittner stepped in and he stroked a single making California the
victors to the delight of the home town faithful. Houston out-hit California
11 to 8, but California ended up with more runs.

Donnie Moore(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 3 innings and allowing
no runs. Sambito(1-2) was the loser in relief. He pitched 4 and 1/3 innings
and surrendered 4 hits and 2 walks.

of late, 11-9 overall.
