Third baseman Wayne Gross hit 2 doubles and had 5 RBI as the Atlanta Athletics
defeated the St. Louis Twins by a score of 7 to 2 at Busch Stadium.
 
The game started off with Atlanta taking the lead in the first scoring 2 runs
on 2 base hits.  Rodney Scott led off and keyed the rally when he lashed a
single.  Barry Bonnell stepped up to the plate and he drew a walk.  Two outs
later Page was safe at second on a stolen base.  Gross was up next and he
doubled.  Willie Montanez was the next batter, but he struck out.  Atlanta
finished with 12 hits in the victory.  
 
Dick Ruthven(2-2) was the winner allowing 2 runs in 5 and 2/3 innings. Dave
Goltz(1-3) absorbed the loss.  He allowed 8 hits and 5 walks in 7 innings.
