Frank Tanana mowed down 10 Philadelphia batters as the California Cubs beat
the Philadelphia Indians by a score of 6 to 3.

Tanana(4-2) looked very much in control throughout the night. He gave up just
7 hits and 3 walks in 9 innings. California had a total of 9 hits for the
game.

Wayne Garland(1-3) was tagged with the loss. California knocked him around a
bit, as he gave up 5 runs in 4 innings. Chris Hackett was asked about the
performance of Tanana, 'He had his good stuff out there tonight. The fans
really get into it when the strikeouts start mounting up - and that seems to
give him even more adrenalin.'
