The Boston Mets pitching staff was overwhelmed by the Baltimore Pirates lineup
who plated 12 runs while Dock Ellis(3-2)with the help of the bullpen
surrendered 2 runs to Boston.
 
Baltimore took the lead for good in the 7th inning scoring 3 runs on 2 base
hits.  Steve Kemp led off and started the rally when he doubled.  Cesar
Geronimo came to the plate and was hit by a pitch.  Rick Dempsey then drew a
walk to load the bases.  Phil Garner followed next and he delivered a
one-base hit.  After an out was recorded, Mark Belanger stepped in and he
reached on an error.  Dave Parker added to the uprising and grounded into a
double play.  Baltimore out-hit Boston for the game, 10 hits to 6.  
 
Jon Matlack(1-3) was charged with the loss.  Wth the win Baltimore now has a
record of 11-9.  With this loss, Boston has a 5-5 record of late, 10-10
overall.
