George Foster went yard and had 2 RBI at Tiger Stadium as the Detroit Reds
staged a comeback win over the Philadelphia Indians by the count of 10 to
9.

Detroit scored the decisive runs in a big 9th inning with 2 runs. Ken
Singleton started the inning off right when he was hit by a pitch. Foster
followed and he cracked a two-run shot making Detroit the victor and
beginning a joyous home town celebration. Despite losing, Philadelphia
out-hit Detroit 15 to 10.

Mario Soto(1-0) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the victory. Gene
Garber(1-1) suffered the loss in relief. He gave up 1 hit and 1 walk in 1
inning.

'What a win!', Soto said. 'These are the kind of games that stand out in your
mind at the end of a season.'
