First baseman Bill Robinson jacked one out of the ballyard and scored 3 times
at Three Rivers Stadium as the Baltimore Pirates beat the California Cubs by
the count of 8 to 6.

Baltimore erupted with the game winning runs in the 8th inning with 3 runs on
2 base hits. Milt May led off and started the rally when he delivered a
single. Kelly was safe on a stolen base. Baltimore continued their
aggressive style with another stolen base. Mark Belanger got his chance to
keep things going, but he went down on strikes. After another out, Eddie
Murray came to the plate and drew a walk. Steve Kemp continued the rally and
drew a walk to load the bases. Dave Parker followed next and he doubled.
Robinson then was walked intentionally. Ben Oglivie followed, but he was set
down on strikes. Rich Gossage was perfect in relief and gained credit for
his 8th save.

The winning pitcher was Dennis Martinez(3-2) who allowed no runs in 2 innings.
Nolan Ryan(2-5) was the loser. He was knocked around pretty good, giving up
8 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings.
