Dennis Eckersley(4-1) thrilled the fans at Cleveland Stadium as he crafted a
no-hit masterpiece against the Baltimore Pirates. The Philadelphia Indians
won by a final score of 2 to 0.

The partisan crowd cheered every Baltimore out from the 7th inning on. He
walked 2 Baltimore batters. The tension built to a fever pitch. After the
8th inning everybody in the ballpark was anticipating what would happen in
the 9th. Eckersley struckout 11 Baltimore batters. Philadelphia had just 6
hits for the night.

The loss was charged to Jim Palmer(1-2). 'Eckersley pitched one heck of a
game!' Greg Grover said. 'He didn't get away with any bad pitches because he
just didn't throw any bad pitches. What a performance!'
