In a tight game it was the blistering-hot Texas Padres 6, the Houston White
Sox 4 at Jack Murphy Stadium.
 
Texas scored 4 runs in the decisive bottom of the 5th inning when they came up
with 5 base hits.  They would hold up as the winning runs.  Texas finished
with 10 hits while Houston ended up with 7.  
 
Doyle Alexander(5-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 innings and
allowing 4 runs. Alexander was helped out by Len Barker who recorded his 3rd
save.  Doug Rau(0-1) was charged with the loss.  He got hit pretty hard,
allowing 8 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings.  
 
The winning ways continue for Texas.  They now have a record of 8-2 in recent
days.  With the loss, Houston has a record of 3-7 lately, 14-14 overall.
