In a close game it was the Atlanta Athletics 7, the Boston Mets 5 in 13
innings at Oakland Coliseum.
 
Both teams were tied at 5 runs apiece after nine innings.  Atlanta won the
game in the 13th inning.  Barry Bonnell kicked off the action when he lined a
one-base hit.  Bob Stanley then uncorked a wild one that found its way to the
backstop.  Jeff Burroughs then bombed a two-run dinger making Atlanta the
winners and sending the 6,404 fans home happy.  Atlanta and Boston each
finished the afternoon with 8 hits.  
 
Dave Campbell(1-1) was the winner allowing no runs in 1/3 of an inning.
Stanley(2-1) was the losing pitcher in relief.  His ERA ballooned from 2.63
to 3.95 as he allowed 2 runs without retiring a batter.
