In a close game it was the Texas Padres 9, the Houston White Sox 7 at Jack
Murphy Stadium.
 
Kurt Bevacqua enjoyed a big evening at the plate.  He lashed a single scoring
a run in the 1st inning and launched a three-run homer in the 2nd inning.
Houston had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.
 
Gaylord Perry(5-2) went 8 innings allowing 7 runs for the victory. Len Barker
earned his 4th save.  Ken Forsch(2-1) was the loser.  He surrendered 7 hits
and 2 walks in 1 and 1/3 innings.  
 
The winning ways continue for Texas. They now have a record of 9-1 in recent
days.  With the loss Houston now has a record of 15-16.
