The California Cubs nipped the Philadelphia Indians 2 to 1 at Cleveland
Stadium in a hard fought contest.
 
The game was won by California when they scored a run in the top of the 9th
inning.  Don Baylor drew a walk.  After an out was recorded, Bobby Grich came
up and he stroked a one-base hit.  Jerry Morales then doubled.  After another
out, Thad Bosley came to bat and was walked intentionally to load the bases.
Bruce Sutter was perfect in relief and gained credit for his 3rd save.
 
Paul Reuschel(2-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 4 innings. Wayne
Garland(1-5) ended up with the loss.  He pitched 8 and 1/3 innings allowing 7
hits and 3 walks.
