WEB GEMS- Top 9th: Robin Yount robbed Ron Leflore of a base hit.

Jason Thompson ripped a bases loaded blast and Fred Norman mowed down 11
Milwaukee batters as the Detroit Reds bested the Milwaukee Dodgers 13 to 4 at
Dodger Stadium.

Thompson provided much of the offense. He lined a single in the 2nd inning
and blasted a Grand Slam homerun in the 8th inning. Detroit had many
opportunities throughout the game and scored in 6 separate innings.

The victory went to Norman(3-5) who went the distance allowing 4 runs. Don
Sutton(6-3) absorbed the loss. He got hammered, allowing 6 hits and 2 walks
in 3 innings.

Norman, when asked about his 11 strikeout performance noted, 'The important
thing is that we won, if I get 20 and we lose, what good does it do our team?
But, on the other hand, since we won it feels great!'
