Dennis Leonard pitched a complete game as the Kansas City Expos defeated the
Philadelphia Indians by a score of 3 to 2 at Olympic Stadium.
 
In the 7th inning Kansas City scored 1 run.  Hal McRae lined a one-base hit.
After an out was recorded, McRae took second on a stolen base.  Dave Cash
then delivered a base-hit.  Freddie Patek followed next and he was hit by a
pitch.  One out later, Tony Perez dug into the batters box next, but he
struck out.  Philadelphia out-hit Kansas City 9 to 6, but Kansas City ended
up with more runs.  
 
Leonard(2-3), allowing 2 runs for the game, picked up the victory. The loss
was charged to Larry Christenson(2-4).  He gave up 3 runs and 6 hits in 7
innings.  
 
'He gutted it out' Stephen Roman said of Leonard.  'I was very impressed by
his tenacity.'
