First baseman Bob Watson blasted a homerun and had 3 RBI at Yankee Stadium as
the Houston White Sox beat the San Francisco Yankees by the count of 5 to
4.

Houston had the winning rally in the 8th inning scoring 3 runs using 2 hits.
Cesar Cedeno led off and got things going when he banged out a single.
Cedeno got a great jump and stole second easily. Jim Essian then drew a
walk. Oscar Gamble was the next batter, but he struck out. Watson came up
to bat and lofted a three-run bomb. San Francisco had a chance to come back
in the 9th but they came up short.

The victory was credited to Jack Kucek(1-0) who went 2 innings, allowing 1
run. Kucek got help from Lerrin Lagrow who was credited with his 8th save.
Ed Halicki(2-4) was the losing pitcher.
