Larry Bowa had 2 base hits and Wayne Garland tossed a complete game as the
Philadelphia Indians won a dandy at Cleveland Stadium over the St. Louis
Twins, 3 to 1.
 
Philadelphia had the game winning rally in the 9th inning plating 2 runs using
2 hits.  After two were out Bowa got things rolling when he stroked a
one-base hit.  Andre Thornton followed and he lifted one out of the park for
a two run home run making Philadelphia the victor and beginning a joyous home
town celebration.  Philadelphia banged out 8 hits on the night.
 
Garland(3-7) finished the game allowing 1 run in the victory. Butch
Metzger(1-3) ended up with the loss in relief.  Wth the win Philadelphia now
has a record of 25-24.  With the loss, St. Louis has a record of 5-5 lately,
23-26 overall.
