Gaylord Perry reeled off a total of 10 strikeouts and Mike Hargrove slammed 2
homeruns at Wrigley Field as the Texas Padres, running on all cylinders,
ripped the California Cubs by a large 16 to 5 margin.

Hargrove was really in 'the zone'. He launched a rocket-shot out of the park
for a Grand Slam homerun in the 4th inning and ripped a solo home run in the
9th inning. Texas bats were hot in the 4th inning when they had 7 runs on 6
hits. Texas rapped out 18 hits for the afternoon.

Perry(10-2) got the victory, allowing 5 runs for the game. Nolan Ryan(3-10)
was given the loss. He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 7 hits
and 5 walks in 3 and 1/3 innings.

Perry was humble when questioned about his performance, 'Well, I felt pretty
confident in my pitches this afternoon. But, I had great support behind me
and I just threw what was called. That was an extremely well called game!'
