30,940 fans watched an exciting game at Fenway Park. The Boston Mets put a
halt to their 5 game losing streak and topped the Philadelphia Indians by the
slimmest of margins, 5 to 4.

Boston set the tone of the game in the first inning when they came up with 3
runs on 3 hits. The key at-bat was by Butch Hobson who made the crowd happy
when he clubbed a two-run home run. Philadelphia had a chance in the 9th but
they came up short.

Jerry Koosman(8-3) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 and 2/3 innings and
allowing 1 run. Skip Lockwood recorded the save, his 8th. Dennis
Eckersley(5-6) ended up with the loss.

When questioned, Dale Keener remarked, 'It's been a while since a win felt
this good - heck, it's been a while since we had a win period!'
