Bobby Grich had 4 hits and 2 RBI at Wrigley Field where the California Cubs
beat the Detroit Reds in 10 innings by the score of 7 to 6.

the 10th inning.  Larry Biittner banged out a single.  Grich next to the
plate and he slapped a single.  Jerry Morales then smacked a single resulting
in a mighty exciting win for California and the 34,891 home town fans in
attendance.  California had 17 hits overall, while Detroit had 13.  
 
The victory went to Paul Reuschel(4-1) who went 1 inning, allowing no runs.
The loss was charged to Jim Crawford(1-2) in relief.  California now has a
