At Three Rivers Stadium the Houston White Sox outscored the Baltimore Pirates
6 to 3.

Baltimore was unable to claim the lead after Houston went ahead in the 6th
inning as they scored 2 runs on 1 base hits. The key at-bat was by Cliff
Johnson who quieted the crowd when he lifted one out of the park for a two
run home run. Baltimore was retired without difficulty in the bottom of the
9th.

The win went to J.R. Richard(7-6) who allowed 3 runs in 7 innings. Richard was
helped out by Lerrin Lagrow who recorded his 13th save. Rudy May(6-1)
suffered the loss. He served up 3 homeruns in his 6 innings.
