Shortstop Bobby Grich lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and had 4 RBI as the
California Cubs staged a dramatic comeback over the Atlanta Athletics by a
score of 11 to 10 at Wrigley Field.

California had the game winning rally in the 9th inning scoring 5 runners on 6
hits. The critical plate appearance was by Don Baylor who made the home-town
crowd a happy bunch when he blasted a two-run home run. California out-hit
Atlanta for the game, 18 hits to 13.

The win went to Willie Hernandez(2-1) who allowed 1 run in 1 inning. Bob
Lacey(2-2) was the losing pitcher in relief. Chris Hackett was ebullient
after the game, 'It's great to win a hard fought game like that. Our guys
just weren't going to be denied. And did you see the fans - they were going
wild! Yes sir, a very enjoyable win this afternoon!'
