Right fielder Reggie Jackson left the yard and had 4 RBI and Ron Guidry
pitched 9 strong innings as the San Francisco Yankees defeated the Baltimore
Pirates 6 to 0 at Yankee Stadium.

Jackson enjoyed a big evening at the plate. He lofted a three-run bomb in the
3rd inning, doubled in the 6th inning and lashed a single which scored a run
in the 7th inning. San Francisco banged out 10 hits on the night.

For Guidry(6-3) it was his 2nd shutout this year. Dock Ellis(6-5) was given
the loss. 'Guidry gave us exactly what we needed tonight.' Chuck Gangel
said. 'When he threw the fastball he threw it for strikes. They were really
fooled by his change. Most of the time he had them chasing it.'
