topped the Detroit Reds by the slimmest of margins, 7 to 6.
 
The game started off with Texas taking the lead in the first as they scored 5
runs on 2 base hits.  Texas won despite being out-hit by Detroit 11 hits to
5.  
 
Gaylord Perry(11-2) got the win allowing 3 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings. Perry
got help from Rollie Fingers who was credited with his 3rd save.  Jack
Morris(3-4) took the loss.  
 
With this win, Texas has a league leading 36-21 record.  They have been 7-3
lately.  Detroit has a record of 30-26 after the loss.
