WEB GEMS- Top 2nd: Rick Burleson robbed Bert Campaneris of a base hit.

Jim Rice connected with a 'big fly' and had 4 RBI and Bill Campbell was great
in relief as the Boston Mets outscored the Texas Padres 9 to 7.

Rice provided much of the offense. He slapped a base-hit knocking in a run in
the 1st inning and rifled a three-run blast in the 3rd inning. Campbell was
great in relief and recorded his 2nd save.

Jerry Koosman(9-4) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 and 2/3 innings and
allowing 7 runs. The losing pitcher was Bert Blyleven(4-6). 'I just wanted
to give my team a chance to win.' said Koosman, 'I got burned on a couple of
pitches. But we won the game, and that's all that matters.'
