Tim McCarver had 2 base hits at Busch Stadium where the Philadelphia Indians
beat the St. Louis Twins in 12 innings by the score of 7 to 5.
 
The game was deadlocked at 5 after nine full innings.  Philadelphia was
victorious in the 12th inning.  After an out was recorded, Greg Luzinski
began the rally when he hit a single, and an error was also committed.  Bake
McBride came next and he lined a single.  Mike Schmidt dug into the batters
box next, but he struck out.  Bob Boone followed next and he slapped a
one-base hit.  Davey Johnson stepped into the box and laced a base-hit.
Philadelphia finished with 14 hits in the victory.  
 
Gene Garber(2-2) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 5 innings. Ron
Schueler(1-2) was the losing pitcher in relief.  Wth the win Philadelphia now
has a record of 31-30.  With the loss, the St. Louis ballclub's record is
30-31.
