separated the combatants at game's end.  The California Cubs won by the
slimmest of margins, 2 to 1.
 
California won the game with a run in the 8th inning.  After two were out
Jerry Remy delivered a solo blast.  Neither team was able to score until the
6th inning.  
 
Dave Laroche(2-0) was the winner allowing no runs in 2 innings. Bruce Sutter
recorded his 6th save.  Elias Sosa(2-3) ended up with the loss in relief.
