With the crowd on their collective feet, screaming at the top of their lungs,
Atlanta Athletics rallied to top Detroit Reds by the score of 3 to
2.

Atlanta had the winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning with 3 runs on 3
hits. Dale Murphy was the sparkplug when he smashed a solo-shot out of the
park. Two outs later Cito Gaston stepped up to the plate and he drew a walk.
Mike Jorgensen then drew a walk. Biff Pocoroba stepped in and he lashed a
single. Mitchell Page came up to bat and ripped a single. Atlanta had just
5 hits for the night.

Dave Campbell(2-1) went 2 innings allowing no runs for the win. Fred
Norman(3-7) ended up with the loss. 'What a win!', Campbell said. 'These
are the kind of games that stand out in your mind at the end of a season.'
