WEB GEMS- Bot 9th: Bake McBride robbed Joe Lahoud of an extra base hit.

In a lop-sided win the Philadelphia Indians ripped the Kansas City Expos by a
6 to 1 count.

Kansas City was unable to claim the lead after Philadelphia went ahead in the
top of the 3rd inning scoring 2 runs on 3 base hits. Larry Bowa led off and
got things going when he delivered a base-hit. Bowa took off for second and
slid in with a stolen base. Wayne Garland dug into the batters box next, but
he struck out. Bake McBride was up next and he doubled. Marty Pattin then
threw a wild pitch. Jim Norris added to the outburst and slapped a one-base
hit. Mike Schmidt got his chance to keep things going, but he went down on
strikes. Greg Luzinski was a strikeout victim, unable to help out. That
early run support was enough for Garland(5-7) and Philadelphia. Philadelphia
had 10 hits for the afternoon while Kansas City had 5.

Pattin(3-6) was the loser. He got hit hard, allowing 10 hits and 2 walks in 7
and 1/3 innings.
