Glenn Adams had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the streaking St. Louis Twins rallied
impressively to win in dramatic style over Houston White Sox, 4 to 3.

St. Louis had the game winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning with 3
runs on 2 hits. Garry Templeton kicked off the action when he stroked a
single. Butch Wynegar next to the plate and he drew a walk. Mike Cubbage
then reached on an error. Lyman Bostock was up next and he would ground out.
Rod Carew was next to the plate, but was promptly struck out. Roger Freed
extended the rally and was walked intentionally to load the bases. Adams
stepped into the batter's box and he ripped a base-knock. Although they
lost, Houston did out-hit St. Louis 11 to 8.

The winning pitcher was Butch Metzger(3-4) who allowed no runs in 2 innings.
Lerrin Lagrow(2-3) was tagged with the loss in relief. He gave up 3 runs and
2 hits in 1 and 2/3 innings.

Paul Long was ebullient after the game, 'It's great to win a hard fought game
like that. Our guys just weren't going to be denied. And did you see the
fans - they were going wild! Yes sir, a very enjoyable win tonight!'
