In a dramatic ending, the Baltimore Pirates staged a comeback win over the
Texas Padres by the count of 3 to 2.

Baltimore had the winning rally in the 9th inning plating 2 runs on 2 hits.
Dave Parker started the inning off right when he drew a walk. Bill Robinson
followed next and he delivered a base-hit. Robinson took his lead and swiped
second. Doug Decinces came up and he drew a walk to load the bases. Steve
Kemp was the next batter, but he struck out. Willie Stargell added to the
rally and reached on an error. Stargell came next and he doubled giving
Baltimore the win and sending the home town fans into a frenzy. Texas
out-hit Baltimore 10 to 4, but Baltimore ended up with more runs.

Kent Tekulve(4-1) allowed no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. The loss was charged to Mike Flanagan(9-5). He pitched 8 innings
allowing 3 hits and 5 walks.

'We just wouldn't give up,' Jim Palmer said. 'Much of the credit goes to our
fans - they were with us the whole way.'
