In a good matchup it was the Houston White Sox 9, the California Cubs 6 at
Comiskey Park.
 
Houston erupted with the game winning runs in the bottom of the 8th inning
when they came up with 4 runs on 3 hits.  The biggest moment was provided by
Eric Soderholm who brought the crowd to their feet when he smashed a two-run
homer.  Houston totaled 8 hits on the night.  
 
The winning pitcher was Joe Sambito(10-5) who allowed 2 runs in 2 innings. The
loss was charged to Dave Laroche(2-1) in relief.  He surrendered 3 hits and
no walks in 1 inning.
