George Foster cracked 2 homeruns and Tom Seaver whiffed 12 batters at Tiger
Stadium as the Detroit Reds beat the San Francisco Yankees by the count of 10
to 7.

Foster punished San Francisco with his bat. He bombed a two-run dinger in the
3rd inning, slapped a single in the 5th inning and caught a hold of a
fastball for a Grand Slam homerun in the 7th inning. Both teams totaled 12
hits on the night.

Seaver(12-5) finished the game allowing 7 runs in the victory. Ed
Figueroa(4-9) was given the loss. Seaver was pleased with his performance.
He noted, 'I had good zip on my pitches. Just as important, my location was
right on. The fans really got into the game too - that always helps me.
Now, if I can only do that again in my next outing.'
