Willie McCovey knocked 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI and Don Gullett allowed just 3
hits as the Detroit Reds were badly beaten by the San Francisco Yankees, 11
to 1.

McCovey really lit it up for San Francisco. The Detroit fans let him have it
for what he did to their boys. He cleared the fences for a two-run home run
in the 4th inning, ripped a one-base hit in the 6th inning, lashed a single
scoring a run in the 7th inning and blasted a two-run home run in the 9th
inning. San Francisco totaled 10 hits on the night.

The victory went to Gullett(4-5) who went the distance allowing 1 run. Fred
Norman(3-10) ended up with the loss. He surrended 3 homeruns in his 6 and
2/3 innings.

'I was really seeing the ball tonight,' McCovey said 'I wish it was always
this easy.'
