The St. Louis Twins nipped the San Francisco Yankees 4 to 3 at Yankee Stadium
in a hard fought contest.

St. Louis scored 2 runs in the top of the 6th inning. The key offensive
moment was provided by Ken Reitz who deflated the crowd as he doubled which
was good for two runs. San Francisco tried unsuccessfully to come back in
the 9th.

The victory went to Dave Goltz(8-5) who went 8 innings, allowing 3 runs. Butch
Metzger preserved the game for Goltz, recording his his 6th. Ron Guidry(6-6)
suffered the loss.

'This was a tough loss,' said Chuck Gangel, 'the kind that sticks with you for
awhile.'
