In a dramatic ending at Cleveland Stadium the Philadelphia Indians won in
their last at-bat beating the Boston Mets by the count of 3 to
1.
 
Philadelphia scored the winning runs in the bottom of the 9th inning with 2
runs on 2 hits.  After an out was recorded, Richie Hebner initiated the
scoring spurt when he slapped a base-hit.  Mike Schmidt next to the plate and
he lifted one out of the park for a two run home run making Philadelphia the
winners and sending the 55,136 fans home happy.  Philadelphia had 13 hits for
the night while Boston had 5.  
 
The win went to Ron Reed(3-2) who allowed no runs in 1 inning. Bill
Campbell(3-4) absorbed the loss in relief.  He allowed 4 hits and no walks in
1 and 1/3 innings.
