14,566 fans watched an exciting game at Oakland Coliseum.  The San Francisco
Yankees topped the floundering Atlanta Athletics by the slimmest of margins,
3 to 2.
 
San Francisco went ahead for good in the 3rd inning plating an isolated run.
After an out was recorded, Ed Halicki providing the offense himself as he
belted a solo home run.  Atlanta had a chance to come back in the 9th but
they came up short.  
 
The win went to Halicki(8-6) who allowed 2 runs in 8 and 1/3 innings. Gary
Lavelle recorded his 8th save.  Vida Blue(4-15) absorbed the loss.
