Bake McBride rocketed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI and Dennis Eckersley had a
complete game at Oakland Coliseum as the Philadelphia Indians beat the
ice-cold Atlanta Athletics by the count of 11 to 2.

McBride had a big day with his bat. He hit a bases-empty home run in the 7th
inning, lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' in the 8th inning and banged out a
single plating a run in the 9th inning. Philadelphia had many opportunities
throughout the game and scored in 6 separate innings.

Eckersley(7-8) finished the game allowing 2 runs in the victory. Phil
Niekro(6-11) took the loss. He served up 3 homeruns in his 7 innings.

The Philadelphia ballclub's record now stands at 45-39. Still in a bad slump,
with this loss, Atlanta is 0-10 lately and 30-50, worst in the league on the
year.
