In a thriling finish the Baltimore Pirates pulled off the win over the
California Cubs by a score of 6 to 5 at Three Rivers Stadium.
 
The game was decided in the 9th inning.  Willie Stargell doubled.  After an
out was recorded, Bill Robinson stepped in and he lined a single making
Baltimore the winners and sending the 40,488 fans home happy.  Baltimore had
11 hits overall, while California had 6.  
 
Rich Gossage(2-4) allowed 1 run in 2 innings, and picked up the victory. Bruce
Sutter(1-3) was charged with the loss in relief.
