Bake McBride had 3 base hits as the Philadelphia Indians defeated the
struggling Atlanta Athletics in 10 innings by the score of 6 to 5 at Oakland
Coliseum.
 
Both teams were tied at 5 runs apiece after nine innings. Philadelphia came
out on top in the 10th inning.  Bob Boone doubled.  After an out was
recorded, Larry Bowa came to the plate and lined a one-base hit.  Andre
Thornton was the next batter, but he struck out.  McBride came up and he
smacked a single.  Overall Philadelphia out-hit Atlanta 15 to 11.  
 
Gene Garber(3-2) went 1 inning allowing 3 runs for the win. Tug McGraw gained
credit for his 1st save.  Doug Bair(1-1) took the loss in relief.
